  • 1 pound Ground Beef Can swap for Italian sausage or turkey.
  • 28 ounces Canned Diced Tomatoes Fresh tomatoes can be used if in season.
  • 1 tablespoon Oregano Dried or fresh can be used interchangeably.
  • to taste Salt & Pepper Essential seasonings.
  • 1 cup Red Wine Can be replaced with broth for non-alcoholic options.
For Serving
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Optional, can use any hard cheese.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Start by finely chopping your onion and mincing the garlic.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute more.
  4. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, roughly 7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the diced tomatoes along with oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  6. Pour in the red wine, scraping the bottom of the pan to release any stuck bits. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
  7. Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer for at least 20 minutes.
  8. Plate your sauce over cooked pasta and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, if desired.

Notes

Optional: Garnish with fresh basil for an aromatic finish. For best results, taste as you go to adjust seasoning.
