For the Base
  • 2 large Apples Granny Smith or Fuji recommended for tartness.
  • 1/2 cup Creamy Peanut Butter Almond butter or Nutella can be used as alternatives.
For the Monster Features
  • 1 cup Mini Marshmallows Alternative: gummy candies or chocolate chips.
  • 1/2 cup Sliced Almonds Other nuts or pretzel sticks can be substituted.
  • 1/4 cup Mini Chocolate Chips Optional, for decorating the eyes.

Method
 

How to Make Apple Monster Mouths
  1. Wash the apples thoroughly and slice them in half from top to bottom. Remove the cores.
  2. Spread a layer of creamy peanut butter on the cut surfaces of the apple halves.
  3. Arrange sliced almonds around the edge of the peanut butter to create the monster's teeth.
  4. Place two mini marshmallows above the mouth for the eyes and press mini chocolate chips into them for pupils.
  5. Serve the Apple Monster Mouths on a fun platter and enjoy!

Notes

To prevent browning, soak apple slices in lemon water if not serving immediately. For extra crunch, add crushed nuts or granola on top of the peanut butter layer. These can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
