Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out your pie crust and fit it into a tart pan, or press store-bought crust into the pan evenly. Bake for about 10 minutes until slightly golden.
  3. Toss the apple slices with granulated sugar and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl.
  4. Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar and stir until bubbly, then whisk in the heavy cream and salt until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Layer half the apple slices in the crust, drizzle with half the caramel sauce, and repeat with the remaining apples and caramel.
  6. Bake the tart in the oven for 40-45 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the caramel is bubbly.
  7. Allow the tart to cool slightly before slicing and serve warm with additional caramel and ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Avoid using overly sweet apples to maintain balance. Store leftovers in an airtight container and consume within 3 days. Reheat for the best flavor experience.
