Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out your pie crust and fit it into a tart pan, or press store-bought crust into the pan evenly. Bake for about 10 minutes until slightly golden.
- Toss the apple slices with granulated sugar and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl.
- Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar and stir until bubbly, then whisk in the heavy cream and salt until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Layer half the apple slices in the crust, drizzle with half the caramel sauce, and repeat with the remaining apples and caramel.
- Bake the tart in the oven for 40-45 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the caramel is bubbly.
- Allow the tart to cool slightly before slicing and serve warm with additional caramel and ice cream or whipped cream.
